All Ages, All Abilities: What A Client Says About Starting Later in Life

A client told us recently that she's stronger now than she's ever been — including in her twenties. That's not an usual comment for the Studio, but it's rarely why anyone starts.

She's been coming to the studio for a few years. More recently, she began having episodes of vertigo — something that had nothing to do with why she'd originally started. What she found was that the inner core strength she'd built up through her sessions gave her something to stabilise with when an attack hit. During testing, hospital staff commented on how good her balance was — something she puts down to her Pilates practice.

She's described Stourbridge Pilates Rooms as being "for all ages and abilities." It's what she's noticed, coming in week after week alongside people at every stage of their own practice — some years into it, some a few sessions in, none of them made to feel like they're behind.

Age comes up a lot in conversations about starting Pilates, almost always as a reason to wait. What we see in the studio doesn't back that up. Strength, mobility and balance don't have a cut-off point. They have a starting point, and it can be whenever someone's ready — sixties and seventies included.

What stands out most in how she talks about the team — she recommends Becky and the teachers specifically, and calls them friendly in a way that suggests she means it literally, not as a nicety.

Here's what's actually happening for clients like her: consistent, well-taught Classical Pilates builds a level of strength and control that starts solving problems you didn't even bring to the studio in the first place — benefits that show up without you asking for them.

If age has been the thing holding you back, this is about as direct an answer as we can give you.
